Three reasons to split a stay
- Cover dates no single room covers. When every room you'd take is full on one or two nights, a second resort for those nights can make the trip possible.
- Pay less. The cheapest rooms often sell out a night or two at a time. The cheapest room open for the whole trip can cost far more than staying in the cheap room for most nights and moving once.
- Get a few nights somewhere special. End the trip at a deluxe resort without paying deluxe prices for every night.
What a split saved on real dates
Two searches from October 10, 2026, each comparing rooms in the same kind of resort.
Checked with Disney on October 10, 2026. Room only, tax included, standard rooms on both sides. Not current offers: prices and availability change daily.
When one room is the better pick
Splits pay off close to check-in, when rooms sell out unevenly. Further out, one room usually covers the trip. In October 2026 searches for holiday weeks two to nine months away (Christmas, Presidents' Day, spring break, Easter, June, July 4th), at most one resort per date could be had only by changing rooms, and the cheapest split was never more than 3% cheaper than one room.
Moving also costs part of a day. If the saving is small, stay put.
How booking a split works
- Each stay is its own reservation. Book them one at a time, with the first stay's check-out date matching the second stay's check-in.
- Each one takes its own deposit. Booking within 30 days of arrival, Disney charges one night per reservation up front.
- Each one cancels on its own. Room-only reservations can be canceled for a full refund until 8 days before that stay's check-in.
- Offers may not apply to both. Discounts and packages are priced per reservation, so one stay can qualify when the other doesn't. Check before you quote.
- Link both in My Disney Experience. The trip then shows as one plan, with two reservation numbers.
Moving day
- Luggage moves for free. Take your bags to Bell Services when you check out and name your next Disney resort. Bags usually arrive by around 5 p.m.
- Nothing that needs a fridge. Bell Services won't move cold items; carry those yourself.
- Your new room may not be ready until afternoon. Check out, hand over the bags, and spend the day in the parks.
Easy resorts to move between
Any two Disney resorts work, but these pairs are close enough that moving barely interrupts the day.

Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside

Polynesian and Grand Floridian
Neighbors on the monorail loop near Magic Kingdom.
BoardWalk and Beach Club
