What's usually left
On October 10, 2026, we checked 60 arrival dates in a row with Disney for a four-night stay for two adults, comparing the cheapest room open for the whole stay with the cheapest way to cover it by moving once or twice.
"Helped" means a split made the trip possible or cost at least 5% less than one room.
The pattern: the closer you get, the more often the cheaper rooms are full on a night or two, and the more a split or a change of dates can do.
Rules that matter close to check-in
- Deposit up front. Booking within 30 days of arrival, a room-only reservation takes a one-night deposit when you book.
- Free cancellation until 8 days out. Cancel at least 8 days before check-in for a full refund. Inside 7 days, canceling costs one night.
- So rooms can come back about a week out. Anyone canceling without a penalty has to do it by then, which can put rooms back on sale. If your dates look full, keep searching every day, especially in the days before the one-week mark.
These are Disney's room-only rules as of October 2026. Packages have their own terms.
How to search when you're going soon
- Compare one room with a split stay. Keep your dates and move once: it can cover the full nights for less. See how split stays work.
- Look across every resort in your price range. Resorts sell out unevenly, so the one you'd pick first can be full while a similar one isn't.
- Search again every day, and recheck before you book. Rooms change all day as people book and cancel, it only takes a minute, and nothing is held while you decide.
- If your dates can move, try a day either side. Disney limits which stay lengths it sells from each arrival day, so shifting arrival or departure by one day can open rooms that looked full.
Searching one night at a time and stitching the nights together can mislead: a night that's open on its own isn't always bookable inside a longer stay. See why resorts show sold out.
